Calgary

Overall Team Winner

What can we say about a team that continues to show up and give it their all? We’ve come to expect interesting stories, contagious enthusiasm, and all-around A+ effort from our Thrivers on Team Calgary. From Team Captains Savino and Shiva, “our group is doing quite well this year! People’s goals are more academic and less physical. We have two people learning sign language, others studying Spanish, German, and Polish. Some are working on getting their driver’s licenses, while others are focused on quitting smoking or reading more novels. Of course, we’re in Alberta, and Sarah is going full redneck with her goals: to achieve her firearms license, complete a swift water rescue course, and work on proficiency with a slingshot”.

As a team, Calgary also donated blood again this year and plan to celebrate the end of Hy’s Thrives with a group CrossFit workout followed by some well-earned pizza.

Congratulations Calgary – thank you for supporting each other and showing us how it’s done!

Marina Pereira, Head Office

President’s Choice: Spirit of Hy’s

Our Head Office Team Captain was the embodiment of Hy’s Thrives leadership. Admittedly, she was a Captain of not the most impressive group – our Head Office goal achievement level was pretty average. But that’s on us – not her! Every Monday morning, for the duration of the Challenge, Marina greeted us with a healthy snack (tasty fruits, nuts, yogurt), an encouraging e-mail, and an inspirational quote. She showed genuine interest in our success, and embraced her role as Captain the same way she embraces her work for Hy’s and Gotham – with enthusiasm, curiosity, attention to detail, and gentle persuasion! Marina is a light of positivity and a true team player at Head Office, making her the perfect HT Captain. Congratulations and thank you Marina, for representing the true spirit of Hy’s.
